In collaboration with the Lviv Tourism Office, tsukat developed the Kolyada AR App — an interactive mobile experience that adds a magical twist to the tradition of sending holiday greetings.

What’s inside the AR app:

  • When the app first launched in 2023, it featured two main functions: a digital songbook of Christmas carols, allowing users to sing together around the holiday table, and AR masks of traditional Ukrainian vertep characters. Users could try on different masks, take festive selfies, and instantly share them with friends.

    In 2025, we added two more features. Users can now write their own holiday postcard and even get help from integrated AI in composing the perfect message. To make it even more personal, they can attach a selfie using one of the vertep masks and add it to the postcard.

    Magic Post is the highlight of the experience. After creating a postcard, users head to the Bernardine House in Lviv, point their phone at the building and watch 3D elements come to life on their screen. The cheerful scene shows their postcard being delivered through a magical postal system on the screen of their phone.

    To make this happen, tsukat developed a custom object tracking solution that works reliably in any lighting or weather conditions — even at night or during snowfall. It precisely recognizes the architecture of the Bernardine House and anchors AR content directly to the building, with no physical markers or manual input needed.

    The Kolyada AR App is a smart example of how immersive technology can be used as a marketing tool to strengthen engagement. It combines storytelling with immersive technologies to open up new ways of attracting an audience.
